- Some of our links go to Amazon AU and other retailers. If you click and buy, we earn a small commission — typically 4–8%.
- This commission costs you nothing extra. The price is identical whether you click through our link or go directly.
- We recommend products based on our independent review criteria. Commission rates do not influence rankings. Our #1 pick earns the same commission as our #3 pick.

What is an affiliate relationship?
An affiliate relationship means that when you click a link on our site and make a purchase, we receive a small percentage of that sale from the retailer. The price you pay is identical to what you'd pay going directly — the commission comes from the retailer's margin, not added to your cost.
Which links are affiliate links?
Most product links on The Alchemist point to Amazon AU, where we participate in the Amazon Associates programme. We also use affiliate links with select Australian retailers where those products are the best place to buy them. We don't use affiliate relationships as a criterion for which retailers we link to — we link to wherever the product is most reliably available and competitively priced for Australian buyers.
We do not mark individual affiliate links inline — this is standard practice across publishing and is consistent with ACCC guidelines for clear general disclosure. This page constitutes that disclosure.
Does commission influence our recommendations?
No. Our #1 pick earns the same 4% as our #5 pick. Our scoring methodology — potency, sourcing transparency, daily usability, value, and brand transparency — is applied identically regardless of which retailer a product is available through or what commission that retailer pays.
In practice, there are products we rank highly that have no affiliate programme at all. We link to them anyway, without commission, because our job is to tell you the best product — not the most profitable one to recommend.
How do we choose which products to link?
Every product we link to has been purchased and tested by our team through at least a four-week trial. We don't link to products we haven't used. The link destination — Amazon AU, a brand's own site, a specialist Australian retailer — is chosen based on price, stock reliability, and return policy, not affiliate rate.
What retailers do we work with?
Primarily Amazon AU via Amazon Associates. We occasionally link directly to brand websites or specialist Australian health retailers when those offer better pricing, unique stock, or a superior purchase experience. Commission rates vary by retailer and product category — typically 4–8% for health and wellness products on Amazon AU.
Can you trust affiliate-funded reviews?
That's a fair question and we'd be concerned if you weren't asking it. The short answer is: it depends on the publication, and specifically on whether they separate the editorial and commercial sides of the operation.
On The Alchemist, every recommendation is editorially independent. We have no advance knowledge of which products will perform well — we research, we evaluate, we score, and then we write. The affiliate link is added after the review is complete, not before. That sequence matters. If you ever have questions about a specific recommendation, email us.
